Linking sales order lines to purchase order lines
Sales and purchase order lines can be linked.
Business NXT has two types of links between sales order lines and purchase order lines; hard links and loose links.
Hard link between sales and purchase order lines
You can create hard links by completing the Allocated order no. field in sales order lines. This happens automatically when you generate purchase/production orders from sales orders. The Alloc. order line no. field is also updated in the sales order line with Line no. from purchase/production orders, which means that there is a unique link between the sales order line and the purchase order line. The Allocated field keeps track of how much has been allocated, and the Not allocated field of how much remains. This applies to both purchase order lines and sales order lines. Business NXT alerts you if more has been allocated than is available. When saving edited purchase order lines, sales order lines that have been linked to them are also updated.

Loose link between sales and purchase order lines
You can create loose links using the Processing/Update menu item for orders. Business NXT then updates sales order lines on the basis of selected purchase order lines. Business NXT selects sales order lines that are not allocated and that have a quantity that has not been reserved. The quantity is either within the lead time or is already loosely allocated.
Changing the quantity on allocated order lines
When an allocation has been performed it is possible to change the quantity on both the sales order and the purchase/production order according to the following rules:
You can always increase the quantity on a production order, as this does not break the allocation to the sales order. This is on the condition that the minimum produced is the quantity that the allocated sales order line is on.
You can always reduce the quantity on a sales order, as this does not produce a shortfall in relation to the quantity produced on the allocated production order.
You can only reduce the quantity on a production order as long as the quantity is not lower than the quantity that the allocated sales order line is on.
You can increase the quantity on an allocated sales order line as long as the quantity does not exceed the quantity on the allocated production order.
When the Quantity field is changed on a sales order line that is allocated to a purchase or production order line, the allocated quantity on both order lines is changed. When there is an increase, the allocated quantity is not increased by more than what is available for allocation on the purchase order line (= Quantity- Allocated). A page element with the allocated purchase/production order line is joined to the sales order line, if this has not already been done in the layout.
