Stock balance

The Stock balance table shows all stocks, reservations, average cost price, stock value, etc. for all shipments, and expected stock changes for the relevant product / warehouse combinations.

The Stock balance has fields for increases, decreases and net stock level changes. All of the stock level fields are expressed in default sales units.

The table contains parameters for stock taking and for purchase estimates, and you can transfer to stock count and correct stock balances via processings.

Stock balance table has fields that display stock levels inside and outside the lead time. The items that fall within the lead time change every day and to update these fields, you have to run the Inside lead time processing.

The other processings, Regenerate stock balance and Withdraw reservations, can be used before transfer to stock count.

The Regenerate stock balance processing makes sure that all calculations are up to date. It regenerates selected stock balance rows and related shipments and stock changes, based on product transactions, order lines and reservations. The Withdraw reservations processing withdraws reservations that have not been picked.

If you in the dialog box for the processing Regenerate stock balance have not selected the field for reading product transactions, the Average cost price field is set to 0.
Note:
You can change the Average cost price if there is nothing in stock, but this presupposes that there are no shipments or unrealised stock. If you have selected the Keep shipments option in the Order processing 2 field in the Company information table, this can be the reason why shipments with zero in quantity do not disappear, or why there are reservations that are not finished attached to the shipment.

Ordering method

The method, on which the ordering of new goods is based on.

A look-up in this field gives you the following list of possible values:
0 - Order according to stock changes
The number of days stated as Lead time and Transport time for the relevant Delivery alternative are counted back. The calculation is based on the time(s) at which the Physical stock level falls below the Min. stock level or becomes negative. If you have overruled the Lead time or Transport time in thePurchase estimate line, these values will be used in the calculation.
Note:
A stock reduction confirmed for a delivery date after Lead time + Transport time, even if finished inside this period, will only be included in the calculation after the Confirmed delivery date, or when the finished quantity is invoiced/realised.
1 - Order at ordering point
When using the 1 - Order at ordering point purchase method, the suggested purchase will come from the highest of:
  1. The smallest quantity times the Econ. purch. qty at Point of purchase - Stock incl. changes to the current date (if the Stock incl. changes to the current date < the Point of purchase).
  2. The smallest quantity times the Econ. purch. qty at Min. stock - Stock inside lead time - Reservations outside lead time (if Stock inside lead time + Reservations outside lead time < Min. stock level).
Note:
This means that the higher value of either Point of purchase or Min. stock "wins", so if Min. stock is intended to be used for purchase estimate, Point of purchase cannot have a higher value.
Note:
A stock reduction will be included in the calculation at the point of finishing if it occurs earlier than the Confirmed delivery date. The calculation is based on In stock now in the Stock balance table.
2 - Periodic ordering
When undertaking 2 - Periodic ordering, the completion of Goods out since purchase estimate + Point of purchase - Stock inside lead time - Reservations outside lead time, with the current date as the purchase date will be suggested. The Stock balance row is included if at least as many days have passed as last defined in the Purchase interval field or if the field containing the last Purchase estimate date is not filled in.

Picked without reservation

The quantity which got picked without having a reservation for it.

If you have selected One reservation line per unit at stock reduction in the Serial no. tab under the Processing method dialog box, but not the Reserve serial no. at picking field, the Pick list does not update the Shipment table or save the Reservation lines. It only updates the Stock balance and Order line tables. The quantity that is picked this way without reservation is accumulated in the Picked without reservation field in the Stock balance and Order line tables. The quantity in Picked without reservation is deducted from the value in the Available in stock field, so that it appears as Realised stock + Unrealised stock inc. - Reserved - Picked without reservation. When you finish an order the field is reduced in the Order line and Stock balance tables.

To withdraw a pick that has been undertaken in this way you must use the processing menu item Withdraw picking without reservation in the Order line table. It does not work with a negative quantity in the Pick NOW field.

Time limit

Consider expected future stock changes
Business NXT will refer to the fields for Stock change when generating purchase estimates.

Calculation of purchase quantity

Refill to minimum stock level
It will be suggested that you order the difference between the Available stock and Min. stock fields in the Stock balance table.
Purchase economical lot size
It will be suggested that you order the number of units of the product that has been entered in the Econ. purch. qty field in the Stock balance table.
Do not exceed maximum stock level
It will be suggested that you order the difference between the Available stock and Max. stock fields in the Stock balance table.

____

Include negative purchase requirements
If you have selected 2 - Periodic ordering in the Ordering method field in the Stock balance table you can select this check box. Business NXT includes the product in the Purchase estimate, even if the stock level is higher than the required stock level. When Generate purchase/production orders the program will skip Purchase estimate line with negative quantities.

When selecting delivery methods

Please select standard supplier
It will be suggested that you order the Product from the supplier that has been entered in the Normal supplier field in the Stock balance table.
Prioritise based on lead time
If you select this check box and there are several alternatives to choose from, Business NXT will try to choose from the alternatives that can be supplied within the deadline. The alternative that is closest will be used:
  1. Confirmed delivery date/Confirmed delivery week in the Order line
  2. Confirmed delivery date/Confirmed delivery week in the Order head
  3. Required delivery date/Required delivery week in the Order line
  4. Required delivery date/Required delivery week in the Order head
  5. Trans. date/Trans. week in the Order line
  6. Order date/Order week in the Order head

____

Exclude from purchase suggestions
This Product will not be included in the Purchase estimate.
Exempt from order generation

Discontinued from range
Select this check box if the product is not to be included in Purchase estimate. Select products that you are no longer going to produce, for example, or products that you are no longer going to purchase. This selection process also affects order entry. Business NXT refers to the selection in the Discontinued from range field in the Order line table. When entering Order line the program will reject any further 6 - Purchase/7 - Production. Business NXT will also reject the entry of a quantity in a sales order line that is greater than the value in the Stock incl. changes field in the Stock balance table.
