Translation

Translations of folder names, layout names, window names, table names, page element names, tooltips and column names are kept in this table.

The following fields exist in this table:

Column no.

The column number, if it is required by the Transl. type field.

Used together with Transl. type = 8 - Column name (Column no. or tag).

When filled out the translations will apply for this certain column number. When adding a Tag value instead, this will apply for all columns in layouts which have this overridden column heading.

If the Table no. field has a value, looking up in this field leads to a dialog box where you can choose between all the columns in the table. The column number in this field is equal to the number you find in the property list below the column descriptions in this Help.

Line no.

Each line in the table is given a consecutive number in the order in which they are entered.

Note:

The Line no. does not change when inserting new lines between existing ones. The Sort seq. no. specifies the order of the lines and is affected when new lines are inserted between existing lines.

The line with texts to reuse, to avoid duplication.

You can use the translations on a line on several other lines by referring to this line.

Tip:

When you want to make translations to other languages, you can make selections on rows where Same as line no. = 0 in order to skip rows for which translations will not be inserted. You can link the table to itself (with the foreign key which goes from Same as line no. to Line no.) in order to see the criteria for where a translation will be used.

In the Editing group, select Insert before (Ctrl+I) or Insert after (Shift+Ctrl+I) to insert rows between existing ones. Then all the existing subsequent lines will get an updated number.

Table no.

Tag

The tag, if it is required by the Transl. type field.

Transl. type

The type of translation.

A look-up in this field gives you the following list of possible values:

1 - Folder name (Folder no. or tag)

Translate a folder name.

Folder name will be used in the navigation panel.

If Folder no. has been filled in, the translation will apply to the name of this folder.
If Tag has been filled in, the translation will apply to folders which have this name.

2 - Layout name (Page element no., Window no., Workspace no. or tag)

Translate a layout name.

Workspace and window layout name will be used in the navigation panel.

Page element layout name will be used in the dialog box for the command to change page element layout.

Original names are used in the layout explorer and in the dialog boxes for the commands to save workspace, window and page element layouts.

If Page elem. no. has been filled in, the translation applies to the name of this page element layout.
If Window no. has been filled in, the translation applies to the name of this window layout.
If Workspace no. has been filled in, the translation applies to the name of this workspace.
If Tag has been filled in, the translation will apply to workspace, window and page element layouts which have this name.

3 - Window name (Window no., Workspace no. and tag, or tag only)

Translate a window name.

Window name will be used for the window tabs. They override the layout name in a window layout and specify the window names in a workspace.

If Window no. has been filled in, the translation applies to the name of the window in this window layout.
If Tag has been filled in and "Workspace no." has also been filled in, the translation will apply to windows/the window in this workspace layout with this name.
If Tag has been filled in but not "Workspace no.", the translation will apply to workspace and window layouts with windows which have this name.

4 - Table name (Table no.)

Translate a table name.

If Table no. has been filled in, the translation will apply to this table, regardless of the layout.

5 - Table/button/page heading (tag)

Translate the name of a page element.

If Tag has been filled in, the translation will apply to table page elements, buttons and book pages in layouts which have this overridden table title, button text and page title.

6 - Tooltip-headings (Tag)

Translate tooltip heading.

If Tag has been filled in, the translation will apply to tooltips in layouts which have this heading.

7 - Tooltip-messages (Tag)

Translate tooltip message.

If Tag has been filled in, the translation will apply to tooltips in layouts which have this message.

8 - Column name (Column no. or tag)

Translate a column name.

If Column no. has been filled in, the translation will apply to this column, regardless of the layout.
If Tag has been filled in, the translation will apply to columns in layouts which have this overridden column heading.

9 - Task overview description (Task overview no.)

Translate task overview description.

If Task overview no. has been filled in, the translation applies to the Description field of this task overview item.

Control columns

Control columns include information about who has changed the record last and when, and which process that is currently editing the record.
