The Layout manager

The Layout manager is used to categorise layouts in a way that suits you. In addition to the default layouts that are included in Business NXT, you can also add your own layouts, folders and categories.

The layouts you have added are labelled Custom in the Layout manager.

  • Click Management > Manage layouts in the menu to open the Layout manager.

Adding layout categories and folders

  1. Click Add category at the top right to add a new layout category.
  2. Type a name for the category and select persons and companies that will have access to the category.
  3. If you want to, continue by adding folders in the category by clicking Add folder at the far right of the category row, and type a name and define access for the folder in the same way as for the category.

Adding a layout

You can add layouts from the main menu or from different locations in the Layout manager. When you start adding a layout, you automatically enter design mode.

  1. Click Create new layout in the main menu to open an empty layout in design mode.
  2. Start adding design elements by clicking New element.
  3. Type the name of your layout at the top left.
  4. Select user access and company.
  5. Click Save as new once more to select the location of your layout, and if it should be visible in the main menu.

Editing an existing layout

When you enter design mode to edit an existing layout, you can either save changes to the existing layout or save the edited layout as a new layout.

Controlling access to layouts

You can adjust access to layout categories, folders and layouts, for default items as well as for items you have created yourself. The default setting grants access for all users at all companies.

  1. Click the lock icon for an item in the Layout manager.
  2. To restrict access, select a person or a layout group, and a company or a company group in the dialog.
  3. Click Save.

Showing and hiding folders and layouts in the menu

When you create a new layout or folder, it is visible by default. In some situations, an administrator may want to toggle visibility of layouts and folders without changing access restrictions.
  1. Click the lock icon for an item in the Layout manager.
  2. Deselect the Show in menu checkbox.
  3. Click Save.

Importing layouts from another customer or organisation

You can import layout definitions from another customer or organisation, provided that you have been granted System supervisor permissions for both customers/organisations.

In the Import layouts dialog, you select the customer or organisation you want to fetch layouts from. You can make settings related to target location of imported layouts, access restrictions and whether the imported layouts should be visible in the menu.
