Release 2026, January
The following enhancements and improvements to existing functionality have been released this month.
2026-01-30
Migration of company interpretation rules
We are continuing the migration of company interpretation rules. Starting this week, the XML interpretation rule company association table can no longer be edited. Usage of company interpretation rules is being dismissed, as mapping rules can now be linked to a specific company, company group, supplier or supplier cross-company via the XML mapping links table. Next week, all existing company interpretation rules will be fully migrated into the XML mapping links table.
Resolved VAT discrepancies between orders and ledger
Previously, the domestic VAT amount on the line with VAT code was calculated based on the fields on the voucher lines. We now use the domestic VAT amount from accumulated order lines. This will reduce the risk of getting differences between VAT amount on order and ledger transactions.
Issue downloading of vouchers
Lately, some voucher documents from Visma.net AutoInvoice were not downloaded to Business NXT. The issue was caused by the download logic, which only processed a limited number of documents instead of all the delivered ones. This has been solved.
Incorrect interpretation of credit notes
There was an issue where XML credit notes were incorrectly interpreted as
invoices in Business NXT. Documents with the <CreditNote> flag set in the XML are
now classified as credit notes, regardless of negative payable amounts or
negative values at header or line level.
Keyboard shortcuts stopped working
If the main menu was automatically pinned when signing in to Business NXT, the keyboard shortcuts didn't work, unless you unpinned the menu or pressed Ctrl + I. This has been solved.

Issue activating Visma.net Approval
When using the Enable Approval processing in the Company table, Visma.net Approval wasn't activated and an error message was displayed. This has been solved.

Limitation of file import
Advanced import options that include overwriting existing data are now available only for users granted system supervisor permissions. Additionally, a warning message is displayed for all kinds of file imports, to emphasise the consequences of performing faulty file imports.
Insertion of rows in joined tables
In certain joined tables (for example under Product information/Prices in the default layout Products), insertion of rows above or below didn't work. This has been solved.
User experience improvements
The following improvements make it easier and more intuitive to work in Business NXT:
- When opening Open layouts by clicking on the button or using a keyboard shortcut, the focus is already on a layout in the list.
- The way you previously pinned the main menu is now remembered the next time you start Business NXT.
- The menu now shows the last opened company instead of the default company when directed from a non-company layout.

Export of SAF-T file
The Export SAF-T processing in the Company information table now returns all software tags in the XML file header, as required by the Norwegian tax authorities.
PDF file name when previewing order documents
Downloaded preview files are now generically named preview.pdf instead of using the document number (such as the order confirmation number or invoice number). This naming convention applies to all preview downloads; subsequent files will follow the pattern preview.pdf, preview (1).pdf, preview (2).pdf etc.
Supported file names:
- preview.pdf (EN)
- udkast.pdf (DK)
- kladd.pdf (NO)
- utkast.pdf (SE)
- esikatselu.pdf (FI)

Document mapping updates
We are pleased to announce new features related to the mapping tool and to publish detailed documentation of the tool.
The tool is designed to parse XML files, invoices and credit notes (document types 1 and 7) and interpret accounting information based on both system-defined and customer-specific rules, by providing the following features:
- Interpretation: This level extracts, identifies, validates, and transforms values found in XML paths into accounting data. Interpretation rules are stored in the XML interpretation rule table.
- Mapping: This level determines where the interpreted data will be saved in the system, specifically into the Batch or Voucher tables. Mapping rules are stored in the XML mapping table.
- User-defined rules: Customers can now create their own interpretation and mapping rules, which can be edited or deleted as needed.
- Suspendable system-defined rules: System-defined rules can now be suspended by the user if they don't wish to map a specific value.
- Document and line level: Rules can be defined at the document level (mapped to the Batch table) or the line level (mapped to Voucher lines).
- New default layout: For a clear overview and to easily set up interpretation and mapping, you can use the Mapping Tool layout (13117) that you find under General settings > General setup.

New feature
Company- and supplier-specific rules: Mapping rules (and not interpretation rules) can now be linked to a specific company/company group or supplier or supplier cross company using the XML mapping links table. Mapping rules that aren't linked will continue to run across all companies under a customer.

Contracting NXT-specific functionality
For integration with Contracting Works, the Voucher table requires the following Contracting NXT-specific fields:
- Arbeidsordre (R2)
- Document Quantity
- Document Product No
The default mapping for the Arbeidsordre (R2) is determined by the value in the
Contracting, buyer's reference field of the
Associate table for the relevant supplier. This value determines the rule used for
organisational unit mapping (R2 is the default interpretation). No user-defined
mapping rules need to be configured for these fields, as it's handled by the
system-defined mappings. To use a different cost unit (R1 - R6), the
ContractingBuyersReferenceOrgUnit variable has to be
configured in the Integer company variable table. The variable accepts values from 1 to 6, where each number corresponds
to an R-unit (R1 to R6).
Known issues and limitations
- Companies or company groups were initially linked using interpretation rules - this functionality will soon be discontinued, so we don't recommend using it. Instead, a new link table for mapping rules has been implemented, to support linking to company/company group or supplier or supplier cross company. This feature is under piloting now, and can be enabled upon request.
- Mapping rules can only be saved using Batch or Voucher as the selected Table no..
Use Bcc option no longer used for SMTP
The Use Bcc option under Fax and e-mail processing in the Company information table applies only to MAPI, and is no longer available when sending email using SMTP.

Reuse of voucher numbers during invoicing
Previously, when reusing voucher numbers during invoicing, only unused numbers were used, which resulted in gaps in the voucher series. This has been solved.
Skipped numbers in voucher number series
Previously, every other number in the voucher number series was skipped if the settings Assign voucher number when voucher is created and Update supplier transactions when voucher is created were both enabled under Workflow processing in the Company information table. This has been solved.

Keyboard shortcuts stopped working
Some keyboard shortcuts stopped working when you had opened a new layout, using the Create new layout option. This has been solved.
Issues sending to approval
Documents and purchase orders could not be sent to approval, due to a dependency to Visma Document Storage, that was recently discontinued. This has been solved.
Cash amount value not removed
When removing a payment term giving a discount from a Voucher line, the reduced amount remained in the Cash amount field. It also remained when replacing the payment term with another, that shouldn't give a discount. This has been solved.

Invoice number and CID presented as "PREVIEW" when previewing a document
Previously, when previewing an invoice, "#####" was shown instead of the invoice number. Additionally, the CID code (customer identification code) was displayed.
This has now been improved, and the text "PREVIEW" is shown in both places, to clarify that the PDF file is a draft, and not a legal document with some errors in the form.
Automatic refresh of layouts
In some situations, you had to manually refresh the browser to see updated values in the layout after sending order documents. This has been solved.
2026-01-15
Synchronisation of roles
When synchronising roles from Visma.net Approval to the Business NXT Associate role, in some cases the match based on email address failed, which resulted in deletion of the Associate role in Business NXT. This has been solved.
Macro in subject in email template
@DocNo () wasn't working as expected when added to the subject
in an email template. This has been solved.
Viewing documents without creating log entries
When using the document viewer in the order document archive, a new entry in the Order document delivery log table would be created, with destination 5 - Print to PDF. This has been solved, so that the log is no longer updated when viewing a document.
Display of invoices of type Peppol BIS 3
In some cases, XML invoices of type Peppol BIS 3 weren't displayed correctly, and most of the information was grouped on one part of the page. This has been solved.
Advanced searching using the Quick find dialog
You can now perform advanced search for layouts using the Ctrl + I keyboard shortcut, that opens the Quick find dialog. You see a hint about this shortcut at the bottom right of the screen.

Self-employed report
Sending the self-employed report to the Norwegian tax authorities is now supported. You find the report for this purpose (13116) under Accounting > Supplier ledger in the main menu. This layout displays records for suppliers marked with Self-employed supplier under Supplier options in the Associate table.
Updated default layouts
The following default layouts have been updated:
- In the Organisational units layout (12988), customer and supplier transactions are now shown also for organisation units 3 - 12.
- In the Translations layout (13015), the rows on the Other tab were sorted in the opposite order of what was defined in the layout. This has been solved.
2026-01-07
Storage and viewing of order documents and document attachments
Document attachments are now stored in file service, using the Attach documents processing in the Order table. Order documents and document attachments can be displayed in the document viewer in the side panel. When sending purchase orders to approval, the purchase requests are automatically uploaded to file service, so that they can be shown in Approval.
Customisable positioning of the payment details window
You can now freely position the pop-up window with payment details within the layout. You use the payment details to match unstructured incoming payments towards the correct open customer entry. Previously, the position was predefined by the system, and sometimes blocked the fields on the voucher line or the open customer entries for entering values.
Issue with SIE export
Under certain circumstances, the SIE export would not finish successfully when selecting pre-defined names for cost units. This has been solved.
