Setting up Google SMTP relay service with Business NXT
If your organisation wants to send out documents, such as order confirmations or delivery notes by email using Google's service, the outgoing email server settings must be configured either on the system level (in the E-mail system configuration table) or for each company (in the E-mail company configuration table). The Google SMTP relay service is a part of Google Workspace.
Activating SMTP relay service in Google Admin console
- Sign into the Google Admin console with the administrator account.
- Navigate to Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > Routing.
- Under SMTP relay service, click
Configure.
Parameter Setting Comment SMTP relay service Enter a name for this configuration, for example Business NXT SMTP. Allowed senders Check Only addresses in my domains. This setting is recommended, unless you need to send from alternative addresses. Authentication Only accept mail from the specified IP addresses: Add the outgoing IP or IP range of your network.
Require SMTP Authentication: Select this option to enforce SMTP authentication to identify the sending domain.
With this option enabled, the system accepts only messages sent from IP addresses that you specify.
This setting requires that you provide a valid user from your Google Workspace and generate a Google App password for the user that will be used in Business NXT.
Encryption Check Require TLS encryption - Click Save.
Creating a Google App password
For the Google user that will be used for SMTP authentication, set up a Google App password in https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords/.
- Enter a name, for example Business NXT SMTP.
- Note down the password, since you will need it later in Business NXT.
