P&L and balance sheet definition line

This table contains one row for each line in a profit and loss and balance sheet definition.

PropertyValueDescription
DatabaseCompanyThis table is in the company databases.
SQL nameDfLnThe table name in the database.
API identifierprofitAndLossAccountAndBalanceSheetDefinitionLineThe API identifier used in GraphQL.
Table no.78The table number in the data model.

The following fields exist in this table:

Account lines

Settings defining the behaviour of the profit and loss and balance sheet definition line.

A look-up opens the dialog box where you can see the following check boxes and options:

Grouping

None
All lines will be printed.
Specified
If the Specify accounts check box is selected in the advanced report parameter dialog (to the Profit and loss account and balance sheet report in the General ledger account table), lines may be included for general ledger accounts belonging to the actual account group, assumed that the Formula field contains a single account group. This will normally apply to detail lines, not sum lines.
Exempt if not specified
If the Specify accounts check box is not selected in the advanced report parameter dialog (to the Profit and loss account and balance sheet report in the General ledger account table), the line should not be printed.
Omit sum if no values
The line will not be printed if all amounts are 0.

Font

The font for the line in the report.

The field shows the font family, style and size within square brackets. In the database there are three separate fields for font family, font style and font size. The field shown on the screen keeps the font size in the database.

Is normally set with the Font command (in the Design group in the Home tab).

The font size may be set as a percentage (e.g. 120) of the normal font size, cf. the Relative option in the Type drop-down list in the dialog box.

Formula

The formula for which figures are presented on the line in the report.

Syntax

The formulas may include:
  • account groups
  • account numbers, prefixed with #
  • account number ranges, prefixed with # and having a double dot between the from and to account no. (e.g. #4000..4999)
  • macro functions, prefixed with @
  • numbers (integers or floating point numbers)
  • arithmetical operators (+, -, *, /)
  • parentheses (in an unlimited number of levels)

If the name of an account group is surrounded by @( and ), it may contain arithmetical operator characters.

Macro Functions

The following macro functions may be used:
@SystemInteger, @SystemDecimal and @SystemText
System dependent variables.
@FirmInteger, @FirmDecimal and @FirmText
Company dependent variables.
They all take a variable name as parameter, and optionally an element number. Element numbers should be in the interval 1 - 12 for integer and decimal variables, and 1 - 2 for text variables. Element numbers default to 1 if they are omitted. The namespace for the variables are stated in a separate field in the table.

Evaluation order

Parentheses are evaluated first. Then multiplication and division have higher priority than addition and subtraction. Operators at the same level are evaluated from left to right.

Error handling

After you have entered a formula, the program displays an error message if:
  • the number of opening and closing parentheses is not the same (or if, for any positions from left to right, there are more closing parentheses than opening parentheses)
  • there is a syntax error, including account groups which do not exist (the program shows the part of the expression in which an error has been detected, on the status bar)
On reports, the following error codes may be shown:
(?
Parentheses mismatch.
?
Syntax error.
#?
Unknown account number.
/0
Division by zero.
