Capital asset options

A look-up opens the dialog box where you can see the following check boxes and options:
Suspended
The voucher lines will not be posted directly to the capital asset. You will see the message "Capital asset xxxxxxx is suspended from direct posting" in the status bar if trying to enter it manually as debit or credit account on a voucher line.
Deduct scrap value from depreciation basis
The Scrap Value specified for the capital asset is not processed as a residual entry at the end of the capital asset's life span, but the value will be deducted from the basis for depreciation of the original acquisition each time depreciation is performed.
Update purchase date from voucher date
If you select this field, and a voucher with Capital asset proc. = 1 - Acquisition is updated for the capital asset, the capital asset's acquisition date becomes equal to the voucher date instead of the value date.
Note:

If you select this field, and the voucher date is in a different accounting period to the value date it may be necessary to manually adjust the end dates of the capital asset.

Move end date if "No deprec. < 1/2 month"
When a voucher with Capital asset proc. = 1 - Acquisition is updated for the capital asset, the end date is calculated with + 1 period if the acquisition date is equal to or higher than the 16th day of the month, and you have selected the No deprec. < 1/2 month field under Accounting processing in the Company information table.
Suspended from processing
You can only run the Create document processings from the Capital asset table. The other processings are locked if you select this field.

When you update the voucher for capital asset with Capital asset proc. = 5 - Sale or 6 - Discarded, the Suspended from processing and Suspended field will be selected automatically.

Update purch. date and end date at each acquisition
When selected, the Purch. date and the End date investment will be updated each time a new voucher with Capital asset proc. = 1 - Acquisition is updated for the capital asset. The option is mainly used for construction industry, where the Depreciation might start from the beginning of the construction, but where the Purch. date and End date investment shall be determined from the completion of the construction.
Exempt capital asset from depreciation
The capital asset will be exempt from depreciation. The fields Exempt addition from depreciation, Exempt revaluation from depreciation and Exempt devaluation from depreciation will be selected automatically when this option is selected.
Exempt addition from depreciation
Additions will be exempt from depreciation.
Exempt revaluation from depreciation
Revaluations will be exempt from depreciation.

Scrap Value

Specify the amount you cannot write off.

The default is the residual value. You can select the Deduct scrap value from depreciation basis field in the dialog box under the Capital asset options field if you want to divide out the amount that you specified in the Scrap Value field for each month.

Example

If you specify a value of 1 (one kroner) in this field, and the investment is 60,000 and the life span is 5 years, the depreciation for each month will be 1,000 kroner in the month, but the last depreciation will not be 1,000 but 999 kroner.

Example

The option Deduct scrap value from depreciation basis in Capital asset options is selected, the Scrap Value is 20.000, the investment is 60.000 and the life span is 5 years.

In this case the depreciation basis will be 40.000, and the depreciation per month will be 666,67 instead of 1.0000.

Note:
If you buy a property, and you do get to not write off the site, you can register the site amount in the Scrap Value field and at the same time Deduct scrap value from depreciation basis
