Production order process

A production order is an internal order that will produce a stock keeping product based on a structure of components, raw materials.

A production order is registered in the same way as a purchase order. In the order you don't need to add a customer or a supplier. When the order is registered, it's possible to print out the production order. This printout can be used as a working document when producing the goods.

Processing rules for orders with transaction type 7 - Production:

  • The Received invoice processing in the Order line table skips order lines with transaction type 7 - Production.
  • When you run the Received invoice processing for production orders, the error message "Order no. x (x = order number) has order lines with back orders. The production cannot be approved" is displayed if the Quantity field is different from zero in the order lines.
  • When you run the Received invoice processing in production orders, an error message is displayed if there are product transactions in the order with the Temporary costs field selected under Trans. status in the Product transaction table.
  • In production orders that are finished, the goods consumption lines are updated with the cost price change when the invoice for the purchase order is received.
  • In production orders the cost prices are displayed in the Reservation table with the total quantity (not reserved quantity) when calculating the cost price in the order lines.
  • The Price and Price (dom.) fields in the order lines are set as equal to the Cost price and Cost price (dom.) fields.
  • The processing Received invoice for production orders calculates the orders once more with prices in the structure heads.

Registration

You add a new production order when producing your own stock.

This is almost the same as adding a purchase order, except that you don't register Sup. no. or Cust. no. in the order head. See also: Purchase order registration.

  1. Set Transaction type to 7 - Production.

You should now have the minimum registration in the order head:

    • Order no.
    • Transaction type: Automatically set to 7 - Production, if you are using the default window for production order registration.
    • Order type: Automatically set to 1 - Normal order.
    • Order date: Automatically set.
  2. Register order lines.

This is the same as adding a purchase order line. However, in a production order the order lines are usually a structure. The other order lines are automatically expanded when quantity is entered on the structure head product.

  3. Click Save to save the purchase order.

Printing production orders

Business NXT prints order lines in the usual way. The Quantity field in the printout shows the total quantity in the order, if necessary reduced by the quantity in production orders that have previously been printed and approved.

In connection with printing production orders, the following fields are relevant:

  • Order head
    • Prod. order no.
    • Prod. order counter
  • Order line

    • Prod. order

All fields are updated when you approve printed production orders.
