Database registry settings.

ASYNC_SELECT “”
If the value is 1 in this string, Visma Business will abort a Query to the database server when Esc is detected.
CONNECTION “”
This string is used by the payroll module VBUSL.EXE (Norwegian market only).
DBMS “SQL_SERVER”
Start with the correct database, because there are differences in the query syntax Visma Business have to use different database DLL's.

DO_NOT_UPGRADE “0 or 1”
With this parameter set to 0 or if it's missing the program will always check all company databases if they have the same version as the system database and prompt the upgrade dialog if some of the company databases have a lower version data.
With the parameter set to 1 this control will be preformed when you open a company database. This will increase the speed when opening a database containing many company databases. Be aware of the users login rights in this case so they have the necessary rights to upgrade the company databases.
EDI_PATH “”
If this is left without any value the system expect that data will be found under Visma Business program folder. Default is \Program files (x86)\Visma Business\Fnnn. If the option EDI folders are used in System data information, the EDI import function will look for a Fnnnn folder and in addition order import type folders mentioned below. Fnnnn folder, where nnnn is the company number will be created for each company, and have the same structure.

ENCRYPT_CONNECTION “Y” or “N”
If this is set to Y, Visma Business will use encrypted connection towards the database. If value is empty or set to N, encryption is not used.
FAX_MAIL_PATH “”
If this is left without any value the system expect that data will be found under Visma Business program folder. Default is C:\ProgramData\Visma\Data\Business\F[nnnn]\FaxMail.
INSTALL “”
Not in use.
LAYOUT_PATH “”
If this is left without any value the system expect that data will be found under Visma Business program folder. Default is \Program files (x86)\Visma Business\Layout. This path must be correct and available for all users/workstations else the user will have error messages during opening layouts containing pictures and icons. Design mode will write the entire path into the layout if this is left empty. If you enter a path here, the layout will be saved with .\Layout\… Workstations without a layout path in registry will then search for files under the program folder for the Layout folder.
MEMO_PATH “”
If this is left without any value the system expect that data will be found under user's documents folder and then under a company specified folder named Fnnnn, where nnnn in the company number with leading zeros. Default is C:\Users\[current user]\Documents\F[nnnn]\.
MIN_ROWS_TO_READ “” or “nnnn”
If the layout is saved without Rows in result set the system use 1000 as default. In some installations where you have users connecting through a phone line, you can reduce the amount of data sent.
PASSWORD “”
The password for the connected user on the database.
PICTURE_PATH “”
If this is left without any value the system expect that data will be found under Visma Business program folder and then under a company specified folder named Fnnnn, where nnnn is the company no with leading zeros. Default is C:\Users\[current user]\Documents\F[nnnn]\
QUERYLOG “”
Here you enter a file name that will produce a SQL log on all queries that Visma Business send to the database. This is normally used to test the connection queries because we have the same function inside Visma Business.
RASTER_ON_PRINT “0” or “1”
If the layout is saved without this setting, you can turn on or of the shading on headings by entering 0 here, and this is then used as default for this user.
SECURE_PASSWORD ”0” or ”1”
If this is set to 1 you have to generate a encrypted password and enter the encrypted password into the PASSWORD key.
To generate encrypted password, start Visma.Business.PasswordEncrypter.exe from Visma Business installation folder. Select SQL password from the Encryption drop down and type the password for the database login and click Encrypt and you will get the encrypted password that can be entered into the PASSWORD key.
SERVERNAME “SQL server name”
This string is used only by the payroll module and must contain database server name. (Norwegian market only)
SORT_ADDITION “0” or “1” or “2”
By default the tables are sorted by the table key(s) or sort sequence, and if you also enter some other sort criteria in all your layouts there will be double up of sort statements.
  • 0 = Use standard sort order + additional sort order from layout
  • 1 = Use standard sort order if no additional in layout and only additional if exists
  • 2 = Use only additional, which may give unexpected sort order in some layouts.

Example:

  • When order lines are open without any sort order gives this queries
  • 0 = select OrdLn.* from OrdLn order by OrdLn.OrdNo asc, OrdLn.Srt asc
  • 1 = select OrdLn.* from OrdLn order by OrdLn.OrdNo asc, OrdLn.Srt asc
  • 2 = select OrdLn.* from OrdLn
  • When order lines are open with sort order on Product no. gives this queries
  • 0 = select OrdLn.* from OrdLn order by OrdLn.ProdNo asc, OrdLn.OrdNo asc, OrdLn.Srt asc
  • 1 = select OrdLn.* from OrdLn order by OrdLn.ProdNo asc
  • 2 = select OrdLn.* from OrdLn order by OrdLn.ProdNo asc
SYSDB “”
This string start up the system database that holds information about users, companies and layouts, if this is blank the default will be SYSBD, normally Visma Business install this with the name VBSYS and in previous versions it was P2SYS. Must contain 5 characters.
USER “sa”
The user name used to connect to the database. If this is missing, Integrated security will be used when connecting to database.
TRUSTED_CONNECTION “Y” or “N”
Indicates that Integrated Security is to be used when connecting to the database. Integrated Security will be used if this setting is Y or USER is empty.
WEB_PAGE_PATH “C:\Program files\Visma\Business”
